We are looking for an entry-level Mechanical Design Engineer, someone who wants to use their design and engineering skills to manifest products from waste.

Someone who enjoys extrusion and injection moulding. Someone who can build and edit CAD files. Someone who is curious about 3D-printing, and other new methods of manufacturing that combine the digital world with the physical one. Someone who can be a generalist, serving as a bridge between our Materials Lab to our Micro Factory.

WHO WOULD BE A GOOD FIT

We are looking for someone who’s hungry to learn and help us operate and build our micro-manufacturing plant.

A degree is not essential, we are looking for someone who:

  • Is aligned with Ashaya’s vision, mission and its guiding principles.

  • Is a fresher or entry-level candidate (less than a year of experience)
  • Has some basic design skills around creating, editing and enhancing CAD design models and drawings using conventional and / or open-sourced software such as OpenSCAD / AutoCAD (knowledge of SolidWorks, ANSYS, SketchUp, HyperMesh is a plus).
  • Is curious about 3D-printing (at least with FDM, any experience a plus).
  • Enjoys learning, operating and running machines such as extruders and injection moulders (no experience required, just basic knowledge about the processes).
  • Loves to solve complex problems while embracing uncertainty.
  • Is flexible at work, open to doing even the smallest tasks in our lab.
  • Is a learner, a doer and a self-starter, looking to grow as an individual on a technical and personal level.
  • Lives in Pune, India and is willing to work in Bhosari MIDC.
  • Speaks English and Marathi.

You will:

  • Support the Lead Design Engineer in designing, editing and enhancing CAD design files.
  • Research and develop new product ideas and cutting-edge rapid manufacturing methods along with the rest of the product team.
  • Support the injection moulding and extrusion processes, being a generalist that connects our materials lab to our micro-factory.
  • Support the buildout of Ashaya’s customized rapid-manfucturing microplant, using 3D-printers (both SLA & FDM) and injection molding machines.
  • Support the overall research and development initiatives to make Ashaya a cutting-edge organization in the waste management space.
  • Work closely with the rest of the team in a fast-paced, energetic, start-up environment to optimize our organization to perform at its peak. This includes being open to doing the smallest of tasks, in addition to the more complex ones.
  • Be a part of the founding team to shape Ashaya’s goals, its culture and its future.

Your compensation:

We understand that joining an early-stage start-up is a risk. With that in mind, we offer:
  • An annual cost-to-company (C2C) of Rs 3.6 Lakhs. We are ideally looking for freshers with a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, with no or less than a year of experience so this is non-negotiable.
  • Equity in the legal entity that vests over an agreed-to tenure.
  • A 3-month mutual incubation period. Both you and we will have an option to end the agreement after three months if it isn’t working out.
  • We provide benefits such as health insurance, flexible work hours (including unmonitored vacation) and Provident Fund contributions.
  • We have a 4.5 day work week, and believe in the importance of productivity over the number of hours worked.
  • We believe in self-management (non-hierarchical) where nobody reports to anybody, but instead, we hold each other accountable to outcomes and processes.

First Round Interview

30 minute video call with plenty of time for you to ask questions.

Second Round Interview

1 – 2 hour long-form interview, case-based (an assignment will be given beforehand that will be reviewed together during the interview).

Additional Rounds

We will have as many rounds of interviews as required to make sure we find the right fit.
