PACE

We know we are moving quickly, but it still feels too slow. We want to move faster. We want to compress many years of research into one. But at the same time, we don’t want to break things along the way. Help us find our pace.

We are outcome-focused. By that we mean it doesn’t really matter how many hours you work, it’s what you do with those hours that matters. Work hours are flexible. Our outcomes, not as much.

EXPLICIT

We are super transparent. There’s no point in sweeping conflicts under a rug. We don’t have much to hide from each other and are consistently evaluating our work, our feelings and our differences. We are our biggest critics.

GROUNDED

WHO WOULD BE A GOOD FIT

Ashaya is just getting started but the ethos of Ashaya has been in process for over three years. There is clarity in its vision and its mission after years of field and secondary research. But there is still a lot more to figure out.

Primarily, the skill-gap that needs to be filled is around polymers and extrusion. We are seeking someone who brings in engineering experience, specifically around the art that is plastic extrusion.

A degree is not essential, we are looking for someone who:

  • Is aligned with Ashaya’s vision, mission and its guiding principles.
  • Embodies Ashaya’s values of Truth, Grit and Optimism.
  • Has theoretical knowledge and industrial experience around extrusion (chemical / mechanical engineering, injection molding) or close to it. It would be preferred that you have at least 3 years of work experience, but it’s not the most important thing and we don’t expect you to know everything!
  • Has a deep curiosity coupled with knowledge and experience around polymer and materials science (polymerisation, material behaviour, reaction mechanisms).
  • Loves to solve complex problems while embracing uncertainty.
  • Is a learner, a doer and a self-starter, looking to grow as an individual on a technical and personal level.
  • Is willing to work in Bhosari MIDC, Pune, India.
  • Is excited about 3D printing. (experience in it would be a nice bonus).

You will:

  • Own the extrusion process of the recycled plastic waste along with the use and maintenance of a high-performance extruder.
  • Lead the development of our upcycled, compounded products made from chemically treated plastic waste. This includes the freedom of experimenting within reason.
  • Support the overall research and development initiatives to make Ashaya a cutting-edge organization in the waste management space.
  • Work closely with the rest of the team in a fast-paced, energetic, start-up environment to optimize our organization to perform at its peak. This includes being open to doing the smallest of tasks, in addition to the more complex ones.
  • Be a part of the founding team to shape Ashaya’s goals, its culture and its future.

Your compensation:

We understand that joining an early-stage start-up is a risk. So, we want to de-risk this for you as much as possible by offering:
  • A fair, market-based salary with benefits. Even though Ashaya is a social enterprise that is impact-first, we believe in paying fairly at market rates.
  • Equity in the legal entity that vests over an agreed-to tenure.
  • A 3-month mutual incubation period. Both you and we will have an option to end the agreement after three months if it isn’t working out.
  • We provide benefits such as health insurance, flexible work hours (including unmonitored vacation) and Provident Fund contributions.
  • We believe in self-management (non-hierarchical) where nobody reports to anybody, but instead, we hold each other accountable to outcomes and processes.

First Round Interview

30-60 minute video call with plenty of time for you to ask questions

Second Round Interview

1 – 3 hour long-form interview, case-based (an assignment will be given beforehand that will be reviewed together during the interview)

Additional Rounds

We will have as many rounds of interviews as required to make sure we find the right fit.
